About Gift

This mug was handmade on my potters wheel from smooth stoneware clay & glazed emerald green and bright coral for the flower. The spines were made one at a time using a special slip-trailing technique.

As with all my handmade pottery...every piece has its own unique handmade character and may have slightly different sizes, shapes and color variations. I never use molds and make each, one at a time. I always use lead free glaze & high fire in my kiln. All my dishes are food, dishwasher and microwave safe but hand washing is always recommended. Each piece is signed Back Bay Pottery and my initials.
The translucent glazes, mainly Spicy Mustard, Emerald Green, Hyacinth and Deep Sea Blue, have a crackle effect. It is a characteristic of the glaze. It crackles most when it goes through its first wash. It will not affect it use or ability to hold liquid. This is do to the expansion and contraction that occurs with temperature changes.
